Mike Dacko brings us in a marvelous journey with his "candle creatures" in Lightheaded. These wonderful brave creatures dance around the light all their life, the same as people. They live in one place, but intend to do something very different.
Things change, though, for these lightheaded creatures when they see a sign in the sky and decide to achieve something more. This runs parallel with the theory that each of us was born for some reason and our goal is to find what that reason is. We can spend all our life without tension. Or, we could live another way; we can take the challenge and face our destiny. Lightheaded creatures are ready to handle invincible obstacles to know who they are. They are willing to die because of their fate.
The fantastic music by Thievery Corporation dips us into a fabulous world, making you feel the meditative atmosphere. I look at these creatures and recognize that our universe offers us variety of chances for self-esteem. But, for humans, our existence is very brittle; it can be destroyed in a blink. So we have to make time for the important decisions in our lives and then act accordingly. Ultimately, what is our destiny?
The "candlers" in Lightheaded dance, decide to make a journey that was foreboded by the heavens. They must leave in order to save their lives and walk through deadly dark space. I urge you to follow them and see what happens. Mike Dacko tries to tell his audience that there'll be a day of understanding when you realize the reason for your own existence. Then you have to decide to forget or to do something with your life. This decision can change everything, beginning with outlook and finishing with your life style.
The animation in Lightheaded will impress you. It is extremely powerful, bordering on elements of reality. It is no wonder, because Mark Dacko won numerous awards for his creative work, including Rhode Island International Film Festival 2009: First Place, FirstGlance Film Festival Hollywood 2010: Best Director, San Francisco Independent Film Festival 2010: Best Animation, Reel 2 Real International Film Festival 2010: Best Animation, Smogdance Film Festival 2010: Audience Award and many more.
